The Government of Cuba, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in coordination with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), are pleased to invite you to:
Workshop for the launching of the Framework Programme "Articulated Platform for Integrated Territorial Development in Cuba" to be held on 17 July at the Panorama Hotel in Havana, Cuba.
The workshop is an opportunity for the Cuban territory, national bodies, specialized agencies, academic research centers, NGOs, and International Cooperation partners and the United Nations system, to discover on first-hand the importance of this Framework Programme.
The program seeks to generate a flexible, innovative and viable platform to facilitate the participation of various international cooperation actors to contribute to a territorial economic and social development, in a sustainable manner. It will also help to empower local authorities aiming at enhancing the performance of the actors involved in development, forging strategic alliances, and enhancing the existing ones at this level.
The Framework addresses territorial development from two dimensions:
• Strengthen the capacities of Territorial Governments;
• Promoting a sustainable economic and social development.
The innovation in mechanisms of management for the development-articulation of actors, the promotion of inter-territorial relationships to scale local development’s opportunities, the assessment of the strengths and common resources between municipalities and provinces, the production and service opportunities between the public and non-state sector, constitute some of the elements to promote in order to expand the results of territorial development.
The Framework Programme shall also be an effective mechanism to strengthen the dialogue with international cooperation (decentralized, bilateral and multilateral), and enhance exchanges of experience through actions of South-South and triangular cooperation between regions and institutions.
