In the current international climate, relations between the local, national and global levels are increasingly important.
Health, unemployment, poverty and climate change —to name but a few—are major issues of concern for citizens and their elected representatives in both northern and southern societies.
The scope and complexity of these challenges require consistent and coordinated actions of sub-national, national, regional and global institutions, called upon to work out common ground through inclusive multilevel governance, as well as ongoing interaction with citizens and local, national and global stakeholders.
Therefore, Territorial Networks play a critical role in drawing together Local and Regional Governments —in the South and the North—with the aim of addressing shared sustainable development challenges and of improving the quality of life of their citizens.
Within this context, the UNDP ART Initiative developed this web portal (Connecting Territories for Development Cooperation) to highlight the critical role Territorial Networks play for the achievement of sustainable development goals at the local, national and global levels.
