On Thursday April 24, the departmental secretaries of Productive Development of seven departments (Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, La Paz, Oruro, Pando, Potosi and Tarija) met in La Paz to share and gather national and departmental experiences in the promotion and encouragement of productive development.
The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Productive Development and Plural Economy (MDPyEP) and UNDP, and was attended by the Ministry of Autonomies.
There are multiple national and regional initiatives promoting dialogue for a better coordination, especially those related to the Productive Investment Fund (FINPRO). This national program aims to create better conditions to produce with an added value, in the logic of territorial productive complexes.
In this first exchange, they presented successful experiences of the departments of Chuquisaca and Pando. The participants shared common problems on the distribution of powers and public-private transfers and generated contributions to the Sectorial Development Plan "Revolution of the Manufacturing and Agro-industrial Production of Plural Economy" of MDPyEP.
The coordination and the productive complementarities between national and territorial levels are the central axes in promoting the economic development of the countries. For that, they try to avoid duplication of efforts and promote the productive specialization and solve common problems between territories and create strategic alliances for the country to develop together.
Through these dialogues, they are promoting improvements and innovations in public policies to support the sector through the exchange between regions, the distribution of roles and specializations, and promoting complementarities and productive linkages between departments of Bolivia.
After the meeting, participants agreed on organizing a second session in May to continue prioritizing industrialization potential of each department. To do this, a regional planning is being elaborated and the creation of mechanisms to develop local capacity in project development impact is being promoted.
UNDP Bolivia, through the ART program, has supported this initiative of national-territorial coordination from the beginning, linking the focus on community-private-public joint under the Plural Economy in force in Bolivia.
