This week, the global coordination of ART , through the “Innovation in Sutainable Territorial Partnerships" Initiative (I-STEPs), in Spanish « Asocio para la innovación sostenible a nivel territorial », composed of representatives from UNDP –ART Global, representatives from the City Barcelona , the Basque Agency for Cooperation, the Municipality of Bilbao, the Municipality of Milan, and for this mission of the Italian Ambassador Gianni Piccato , the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Diego Zorrilla and the General Coordinator of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID ) José Luis Pimentel , had a major work day with the Technical Secretariat for International Cooperation of Ecuador ( SETECI ).
Saskya Lugo, Technical Coordinator of the Technical Secretariat for International Cooperation (SETECI) welcomed the mission, and reaffirmed the work of the institution to strengthen the coordination of decentralized cooperation, and to reach the territories effectively to support local development , aimed at strengthening national development , according to the parameters of the Ecuadorian planning and the priorities set in this framework, such as changing the production model, and the strengthening of human capacities.
Delegates of the decentralized Governments of Spain and Italy will also visit the Emerald City where they will meet with local authorities and members of the territorial articulation groups. The mission will be accompanied by a representative of the SETECI and a representative of UNDP ART Programme.
These initiatives to exchange experiences aim to strengthen the internationalization of the territories, promoting their direct interaction with the international community based on cooperation, integration and inclusion, from the decentralized management of cooperation to support national development efforts.
